Carolyn Scharer
DVMDr. Carolyn Scharer is a Washington native. She graduated from the University of Washington in 1989 with a BS in microbiology and molecular genetics. After working for 1 year at the University of Washington Medical School doing molecular genetic research, she attended the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine where she completed her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1994. She completed additional training in exotic animal medicine, small animal ultrasound, endoscopy and laparoscopy, small animal dentistry and small animal oncology. Dr. Scharer has a special interest in Nordic dog breeds and sled dog medicine. She is a member of the Iditarod Sled Dog Veterinary staff, a member of the International Sled Dog Veterinary Medical Association and mushes with a team of 8 Alaskan Malamutes.
